Stage 1 is normally designed around a healthy vehicle retaining its standard supporting hardware, with the calibration selected for that platform and intended use.
Stage 2 is built around upgraded components that improve cooling or airflow, with the ECU calibration matched to the finished setup.
An uprated intercooler or related charge-air component can help manage temperature and maintain more consistent performance under load.
Intake and exhaust-side improvements may support the package where appropriate. Any vehicle used on the road must retain the required emissions-control equipment.
The software brings the package together and must reflect the exact hardware, vehicle condition, transmission and intended use.
Requirements vary between engines and platforms. Some vehicles need only selected supporting upgrades, while others require a more complete package before Stage 2 calibration is appropriate.
